Gotherington Community Orchard Project
This village has a rich heritage of orchard growing and is deeply embedded in its cultural identity. The creation of this heritage orchard includes a majority of local varieties of apple, plum and pear. Orchards foster high biodiversity and create rich wildlife habitats. This project is also about developing social cohesion, sharing knowledge/skills and celebration. This will be a long lasting legacy for the village. The project is now complete. Months of planning, negotiating, coordinating and persistence. This an ongoing project which plans to celebrate Apple days, blossom days and wassailing. There are many thanks but a few to name are Gotherington parish council, Martin Hayes (Brynsior Organics) and Simon Lloyd signs.
Gotherington community orchard was funded by Tewksbury Borough Council (Coronation Living Heritage Fund).
