This piece is exploring concepts behind transformation, disruption and the questions around land use.  This abstract presence is recalling the development of this housing estate and is suggestive of what the future holds for the many other local rural spaces. Huge areas of the farmland around Gotherington are up for sale. This artwork is symbolic of national concerns around how we value land and where our priorities lie: food production, nature, energy and economics.  According to the report issued in 2023 “The State of Nature”, the U.K. is the most nature depleted country in the world. There are many reasons for this but the one I am interested in is the rural changes dues to housing stock, agriculture and climate change.
